Switchboard blows at Gasworks, Newstead

Friday PM Swift Response to Power Outage

On Friday the 10th I received a phone call after the switchboard at Gasworks, Newstead blew resulting in a messy situation for the complex. Gasworks is home to numerous restaurants, grocery stores, retail shops, a seafood store and medical centre as well as various commercial offices.

SEQH were called for support to deliver a 20ft size generator weighing 22.5 tonne – within 30 minutes of the go-ahead, we had a side loader onsite at Larapinta to collect the generator.

Whilst at the time on Friday it wasn’t clear what caused this to take place, the heat that Brisbane has experienced hadn’t helped as the electrical cables had melted after over-heating. This will take 10-14 days to fix.

* The entrance/exit to the car park was the proposed drop zone for the 22.5 tonne generator.
* Numerous smaller generators were previously delivered to assist.
* Here’s our driver Greg off-loading the 22.5 tonne generator. We weren’t able to go any further due to the combined weight of the prime mover, trailer & generator being too much for the ground. Following this delivery a franna crane will shift the generator into their required position.

Should you have any further questions, please contact me further.
